Fishing Report

JULY 2017: READY FOR SOME FANTASTIC FISHING!!!

At this time, we have our 1st named storm in the gulf. So far, all it has brought us is higher tides and windy conditions. Fishing is still good in most areas, you’ll just have to move around till to find them and then it’s game on. Croaker is still the bait to use at this time. Piggies are starting to show up at the bait shops but are still a little small. If you choose to use piggies and they are small, put 2 of them on the hook, and your hookup rate will increase. For Nueces Bay, I have been targeting the reefs in the deeper water. Look for scattered shells and mud and throw them into the middle of it. Work your bait slowly and give it time to work.

While running down to the Upper Laguna, be on the lookout for bait flipping along the grass lines south of Pita and also along Emmords Hole. We’ve been doing well in these areas only making 1 or 2 moves.
